The car he's using is a hybrid. Electrical efficiency is the key. Cryogenically treating metals makes them stronger, and lowers their electrical impedance. so on this HYBRID car, the electrical part of the drive system will be far more efficient, requiring less energy from the conventional engine to charge it up... thus the huge gains in mileage.
