Tourism stocks rally on a seemingly better outlook regarding potential tourists from China

Tourism related shares continued to perform strongly today on expectations that tourists from China may be allowed to visit Taiwan soon. Tourism association members met with government officials yesterday for a hearing of opening up Taiwan to tourists from China. At the hearing, tourism industry members stated that all the hardware is ready..only lacking negotiations. Taipei's Mainland Affairs Council replied that they should not have to wait too long for negotiations. It is expected that 300,000 tourists would arrive annually from China once the gate is opened. Tourism related plays such as hotels, amusement parks and airlines gained on this news today: Hotel Holiday Garden (2702 TT, NT$22.4, +6.9%), Leofoo (2705 TT, NT$20.2, +6.9%), Janfusun (5701 TT, NT$21.6, +6.9%), Formosa Intl Hotels (2707 TT, NT$55.9, +6.9%) were all limit-up today. China Airlines (2610 TT, NT$17.95) and Eva Airways (2618 TT, NT$16.15) gained 2.9% and 3.5%, respectively.
