They have moved to the right also since the 1970s. WE have the largest military budget in history - exceeding all other countries combined. We are the only major country without national health insurance - among all capitalist countries and allies. Answer: We signed the UN charter, and we helped create the UN, as jmttab pointed out. WE cannot attack whichever country we want just because Congress votes, if it violates UN rules, sorry. Why can't Saudi just attack us then if they vote? lol >> If you think we are bound to not go to war without UN approval, if the UN authorizes a war are we obligated to fight it? Answer: Of course not.
