Mitek Systems Inc. Ships New Intranet/Internet Fax Solution; INTRAfax
V1.0 Uses Least-Cost Routing To Decrease Long-Distance Telephone
Charges

SAN DIEGO (Sept. 8) BUSINESS WIRE -Sept. 8, 1997--Mitek Systems Inc.
(NASDAQ:MITK) started shipping INTRAfax v1.0, a 32-bit Windows NT
client/server fax gateway.

INTRAfax allows faxes to be sent automatically throughout the world,
reducing international long-distance telephone charges. INTRAfax is an
enterprise solution designed for companies with multiple locations or
branch offices.

This unique TCP/IP-based product allows a fax to be sent using
Microsoft Word or any Microsoft Windows-based program from any
workstation within the organization via an intranet, wide area network
(WAN) or the Internet. Pricing for INTRAfax starts at $1,295 for 25
users.

Within a large organization, not all offices may have access to e-mail,
or the various e-mail systems in use may not be compatible with each
other. INTRAfax uses a standard fax format to transmit faxes, allowing
communication with any company location. Users enjoy the convenience
of fax transmission without costly long-distance charges.

INTRAfax provides least-cost routing, reducing long-distance telephone
costs. When users submit faxes to the system, INTRAfax automatically
determines which of the available servers is closest to the recipient
and forwards the fax job to that server. The selected server then
makes a local call to the final recipient and transmits the fax.

INTRAfax uses a client/server architecture to establish a direct
connection between the workstation and the fax server. This gives the
user "real time" status of all jobs submitted to the system. Unlike
other "store" and "forward" systems, INTRAfax users are in complete
control. They can send, cancel, delete and view the status of all jobs
at the click of a button.

Faxes may be received and routed to clients using DID, DTMF or manual
routing. The INTRAfax server software also provides users broadcast
fax and automatic cover sheet capability. All transmissions between
the client and server are secured with full data encryption. Each user
is assigned a unique user ID and password required to access the
server.

INTRAfax supports Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and Windows NT 3.51 and 4.0
clients. Faxes may be sent directly from any Windows program using the
print fax driver or scanned into the system with any TWAIN-compatible
scanner. Since INTRAfax uses client/server technology, remote and
traveling users enjoy greater flexibility with the ability to send and
receive faxes through local modems and/or through an intranet, WAN or
Internet connection.

INTRAfax is designed specifically as an enterprise fax solution to
address the varied fax requirements of corporate wide area networks,
intranets and multiple-office environments. While engineered
specifically for the growing intranet marketplace, INTRAfax is also
capable of satisfying the Internet fax requirements of Internet Service
Providers (ISPs) and corporate clients desiring a cost-effective fax
communication tool.

John Kessler, president and chief executive officer of Mitek Systems,
commenting on the announcement said, "INTRAfax positions us to grow the
Fax Communications division and take advantage of the multibillion
dollar market for Internet/intranet products."
