Modern Day Deep Throats

PoliPundit.com

I am not a big Watergate buff so most of the stories written about the identity of Deep Throat have not particularly interested me, but Hugh Hewitt .posted some things that made me think about how a modern day Deep Throat might be viewed by the media if they were in a Democratic administration.

<<<

Chuck Colson has a great quote in one of the ten thousand “Deep Throat” stories today:

“‘When any president has to worry whether the deputy director of the FBI is sneaking around in dark corridors peddling information in the middle of the night, he’s in trouble,’ said Colson, who founded Prison Fellowship Ministries after leaving jail. ‘There were times when I should have blown the whistle, so I understand his feelings. But I cannot approve of his methods.’”

Doesn’t admiration for DT necessarily mean contempt for Webb Hubbell and Susan McDougal? Of course contempt for DT should also mean admiration for the loyalty of the Clinton pair.

Think about the way Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick, and Linda Tripp were treated by the media compared to Susan McDougall and Web Hubbell during the Clinton administration. McDougall and Hubbell were treated as sympathetic figures, while Jones, Tripp, Broaddrick and many others were treated as villains. Then think about the way Paul O’Neill and Joe Wilson were treated during the Bush administration.

See a pattern?

Whistle blowers in Republican administrations – good; whistle blowers in Democratic administrations – bad.

At least the MSM are consistent in their bias.
