"Which adds up to about $100mm for the top 5 executives"

Your calculations are misleading. There are many more "less top" executives who are not obligated to report their option exercises, and many-many more high-ranked program managers and engineers who have options as a part of their compensation package. Even if they have less shares, they vastly outnumber your top executive list, and they all fall below your radar. I maintain that the best available indication of true under-reported labor expenses is the total value of stock re-purchases minus proceeds from sales of this stock to employees at option exercise prices.
