re: President Bush dismissed as "absurd" the Amnesty report, which also said the United States was responsible for an upsurge in global human rights violations, and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld called the description "reprehensible." There was never a time in our history when anyone could have even accused us of this stuff. We used to be the enlightened example to the world. They looked at us and said "Yes, it is possible". We've lost the moral high ground, as every other despotic world power has as they try to dominate world politics. I thought we would do better. John
