Sonus and "You've got Phone" 04.13.05 | Doug Mohney
Sonus Networks is happy to be working with America Online (AOL). "It's great news for the industry, it shows yet another market, the whole ISP space getting into value-added services," said Steve Edwards, Chief Marketing Officer. "The beauty working with AOL is they already have a great customer base and potentially have access up to 5 million broadband customers. They already have a feature-rich environment and are adding another service to that. It's pretty much a milestone for the industry at large."
AOL, while one of Sonus's larger customers, might not be the only ISP to take advantage of Sonus's technology. "We actually developed a specific software release we deployed for AOL that is suitable for a broader ISP market," said Edwards. "I am hopeful that many other people in the industry take advantage of it." There's other happiness with the involvement of Level 3, another Sonus customer. "We start to fuel the demand at AOL, and get the pull through on Level 3's infrastructure build.not too many people picked that up," commented Edwards.
According to one industry group, Sonus was named a leader in the voice over broadband market, with an estimated 34 percent of the VoIP subscriber lines in the last quarter of 2004. Other analysts have also placed Sonus into a leadership role in the marketplace. |
