I'm sure you know that Bush's aide encouraged Saddam by telling him it wasn't our business - Kuwait, before they invaded. He thought this gave him a free hand there. That is well documented.

He was our friend all through the 1980s when Rumsfeld was over there shaking his hand, and Reagan was giving him aid.

Where was your concern then?

I didn't agree with him at all, but it is not our business to invade them twice, and kill over 300,000 Iraqi's now - plus lose almost 2,000 Americans minimum dead in 2 wars and counting.

This to me is one long debacle 1990-2005 and going forward. What have we accomplished there? Killing hundred of thousands, and spending what 300 billion so far combined - plus wasting our resources there? Great job - right.

You know, in this and recent posts you're basically adopting Saddam's argument - we should have refused to go along with the UN in 1990 let him take Kuwait, shouldn't have enforced the UN sanctions on Iraq, etc. I don't think a "Saddam was right" posture is gonna get you very far.
