Ted, You do not fight hate with bombs and tanks.
It worked in WWI, WWII, the Korean War, Gulf War I, Kosovo, and Afghanistan.
With WWI, WWII and the Gulf War, it wasn't about fighting hate......it was defending one's existenceor the existence of an ally......and it worked because there is a big difference between the two.
With the others, what makes you think they were successful? Fifty years later, Korea is still divided; fighting in Kosovo continues off and on and requires a peace force; and Afghanistan is still in turmoil.
There can be no peace without victory. The only problem is that no one really wants to pay the price of victory. And before I get flamed, the price isn't always bombs and tanks, either.
What is the price of victory, Ten? Do you have any idea? To me, its looking to be infinitesimal. And, no, I am not willing to pay a price that goes on forever or even for 10 years. The cost is not worth the results. |
