Now I'd like to ask you, if those other are better at governing and have better economic models, why is it that the U.S. is the country that has attracted the most immigrants in the past and has the most wealth?

Immigration tracks economic conditions first and foremost. Immigration economically depressed regions of the world, from poor regions of Europe and Asia for example, has slowed to a trickle. Don't forget that the world has come through two world wars that left Europe and Asia in ruins, but had little physical effect on US soil.

This country was built on solid Christian values and many of them have been codified into our most venerable institutions. If we are straying recently, I'd say that it's because we have a President who is a fundamentalist and therefore believes he can do no wrong.

Consider your statement, the built in contraddiction revealts the very danger of the matter, a danger which you miss, but which seemed to be well understood by the men who wrote our constitution. These men knew first hand that through history religion has sought to impose itself on the civil affairs of nations....consider European history from which they and their ancestors came. Bush is an opportunist who takes advantage of religious fervor for political gain and seems oblivious to the near and long term consequencces.
