There's a pretty funny cartoon here....At least it would be funny if we didn't live in WA State and have a completely Democratic House, Senate, and hopefully short term Gov who have taken it upon themselves to just completely by pass the citizens who want to have discussion on this Democrat imposed gas tax.
I just signed up for petitions, and hope everyone that lives in this State will as well...We've sent in money twice so far....
Preston, Gates, and Ellis law firm in Seattle has been retained by the State Democrats to fight FOR this gas tax, and they are now holding it up to "examine the title of the Initiative"......
This law firm is VERY wealthy, and is the one that Bill Gates Sr helped to start, if not actually started it. LOTS of money behind it.
Maybe some enterprising person will start an initiative that will make it mandatory for the State to send out to bid EACH time they need a special problem handled......

Citizens were denied a right to vote, or even to be heard. The Gas Tax Hike was deliberately passed by the Legislature at the last minute. This meant taxpayers were prevented from being heard on what is Washington’s largest tax increase ever. The legislature also attached an “emergency clause” to the bill that stole our constitutional right to challenge any legislative action by citizen referendum. Once again, the bureaucrats and special interests manipulated the process to get the result THEY wanted. The new gas tax hike is the first step to even higher taxes. The 9.5¢ gas tax hike is only a down payment on the real cost of the projects involved. Not one project is fully funded by this massive tax increase. And, the taxes never go away. If voters turn down an additional gas tax increase, the higher taxes included in the gas tax hike don’t disappear — the Legislature gave themselves the power to redirect the revenue to whatever other transportation spending they want. There are no actual plans for the projects the new gas tax hike is supposed to fund. The gas tax hike gives the bureaucrats billions of dollars of our money without telling them, or limiting, what they can do. The Seattle City Council is moving to vote for the most expensive alternative to replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct — and then requiring taxpayers across Washington state pay for it. When it comes to the hundreds of millions of dollars being spent on SR520, there are no plans for how the new bridge will look. The bureaucrats want the money and THEN they will tell us what we get — if anything.
