Yes, Nixon is often credited with opening China, but is it really open? If you have shared an office with a Chinese (Beijing) citizen for years you might think differently. However, Nixon is to be credited as the first American President to visit the land.

As for the Chinese, they have been immigrating here for centuries without a clear idea of what they were getting into, or where, or how they would survive once they got here.

Vietnam War: Nixon=Loser. “An effective end to the war”, plfft. I still see cardboard signed beggars from the Vietnam War near VA Hospitals. C’mon, that was 40ish years ago; can anyone survive on the street that long?
