What I would like to see is a Flat Tax on GROSS INCOME less say 20k for the truly needy. Such a rate should be 10% (though I know they will want more) but if the Church can live on TITHING so can the government. Gross income would include capital gains as well as earned income. I suppose tax exempts would be left alone to preserve the states abilities to raise monies. If one looks at the GNP of the nation and multiplies it by 10% PLUS the capital gains tax they would collect I see absolutely no reason why that shouldnt be sufficient for a PRUDENT government. jdn
