"If the FRENCH and the Dutch are having a few last minute jitters, its to be expected."

France is in temporary internal disarray, caught in the argument between having a "French Europe" or a "France in Europe".

The "no" votes are a setback, but the European project will roll on. It began back in 1951 when a trade zone was established between what was then known as "the six". Last year, it expanded to include most of the former Eastern European nations to reach 25 nations, with two more to follow in 2007. Setbacks like the current one have been a constant feature of the project. It could not be otherwise. The reason is that at the political center of the EU stands the political principle of unanimity.
