If I were drafting major legislation I would want to know what it would cost, who would do it, who benefits, what programs it displaces/replaces, any unintended consequences I could think of, will the program achieve its intended goal, etc. Maybe I am an overthinker, LOL.

But this debate reminds me a bit of what I said earlier on multiculturalism. The multicultural world is already here. The big government world is here. I can see trying to preserve individual liberty by limiting future government commitments and programs, but what do we do with the $2 trillion monkey on our back now?

If you want to improve the goal of achieving liberty (a fine goal if getting there doesn't have equally adverse unintended consequences for others), how do we do it from here?

And as a broader question, which parts of your life do you feel are too crowded by government officials not that you want to get back? It's a serious question; apart from taxation I don't feel much impact from Uncle Sam but I have an atypical lifestyle to say the least.
