I challenge you to go back on this thread and see how folks who said this would a tough slog before it was a tough slog were dismissed. At that point, i was one doing the dismissing i am almost certain. Some expected flowers, others expected quick self government. Few suspected us to be where we are today except a certain group of opponents, some of repute and some of ill repute. As for Felt, I have mixed opinions. It seems more to me now to have been a battle between hooverites and nixonians represented by Felt and Gray. Liberals dont really have a dog in that fight except that the hooverites apparently helped them make their case against what turned out to be a corrupt administration. The coverup doesnt bother me anymore because that had more to do about loyalty but it is the culture that produced the event itself and the use of irs, fbi, cia against folks on the enemies list. To bushes credit, he steers clear of demonization and use of such tools although we do have abberations such as rummy's thin war with abuses that though not advocated certainly cant be rigorously checked. mike
