Too bad it only takes one side to shatter that trust, especially when that side considers their ideals more important than peace itself.

I (almost) couldn't agree more. The thing is, at least from my perspective (my personal ideology if you like) war is the ultimate human sin against God or mankind, or whatever. In the past it's been the Republicans and more often it's been the Democrats, and it's been the Christians and it's been the Muslims.

I guess things are just more "relative" to you than they are to me.

You know Iraq wasn't "war for peace". It was war for power and economic domain, clearly. What side are you on?
