Friedman quoted an old American Indian saying that goes something like this: "If we don't turn back sometime soon, we just may get where we're going."
The Muslims sure are going somewhere and it is nowhere good. You call them a sleeping giant and claim that we should fear them. But what you fail to recognize is that we are strong because we BUILD more than we destroy. Our entire culture is one of integration, building, creativity, innovation, ingenuity, and freedom. The ME culture is one of destruction, repression, ruling elite, religious indoctrination, scant education, lack of women's rights. The ME culture simply can't overcome our own, because they destroy more than they build. When they liberate themselves and start figuring out how to build things, then maybe we should fear them. But until then, we'll always be able to whip them.
That's not to say, they can't be a major pain in the ass. They are just that right this moment. But in the end, they simply can't win. The only sleeping giant awoken on 9/11 was the U.S. We woke up from a long sleep after the Cold War to realize the honeymoon was over. Luckily, most Americans realize the threat we face and aren't restricted by the paralysis of political correctness that seems to have siezed American liberals and Europe. That understanding of the world the way it is, not the way we wish it was, is what will get us out of this mess. |
