pfalk, I think Skype-like solutions could be the preferred solution for consumers and even with some users in Corporate, while SIP-based solutions such as Cisco's are the preferred solutions for CIOs because of security.

A tug of war between the users and the CIO could ensue. The individual may not care about gapping open ports exposed to the internet that beg "come here virus", but the CIO does. I think Skype-type of solutions will proliferate especially in SMB, but create a bit of a mess in corporate America where maybe there's an opportunity for Cisco to position itself as "I'll help you clean this overloaded mess."

The disadvantage of SIP is trying to get thru the firewall.

Danged if you do, danged if you don't.
