The NYTimes article yesterday was very telling regarding parents interceding with their kids and in effect not letting them enlist. Perhaps all these boomer parents had a flashback to Country Joe and the Fish and decided to protect their kids and not send them off to a war which is being run by DOD folks
(1) with no clear idea on how to win &
(2) abused folks who enlisted in the Guard and Reserves, not to mention extended stays for the every day guys.
(3) makes it extremely difficult to deploy american ground power anywhere else while this war goes on.

Give the iraqis a date and all the help we can and let them rise (or fall) to the occasion. The only thing left to be decided for the US at this point is how many names will appear on this monument. From this point on, no unnecessary deaths--Lets purposely turn this over to the iraqis. The WOT will last 25 years as al of you like to say but the war in iraq or at least our participation in it should have an end date.
