I almost upgraded this year; if I had, I'd be so pissed off right now, I can't tell you.

I couldn't disagree more. I just upgraded last month to an iMac G5. This was to replace a G4 Cube that lasted 6 years. I can't imagine the iMac not lasting just as long if not longer. By then, this transition will be long past. I can't think of a better time to buy a G5. It's not like the software stops working tomorrow.
