The biggest downside for me is the possibility that a new killer app will come along and won't work on the old chips. Thanks to new tools writing a new application simultaneously for both chips is easy, : Jobs presentation: stream.apple.akadns.net Only one CD need to be produced. Rewriting existing program for Intel chip is somewhat more difficult.
