this whole thing is SO overrated...its a chip...faiap invisibile to the appliance minded end user. the OS is passe....sure its fun for the blogoshpere to hand wring and speculate and wonder what if. But it simply was an acknowledgement (a thesis that I have held since I first posted) that Chipzilla WINS..as in WINNER TAKE ALL. Jobs is smart enough to read the writing and ACT instead of burying his head. As such they WILL get this transition done without much impact; but as the lines between mac and windows blur it isn't going to be consequential to all but the ardent faithful who live and die when Jobs utters a particular word. the real story is sun micro and when the loeg is going to realize that they better DO something soon because IT is going to eat them anyway. may as well get it over with....
