Quit trying to cover up for Nixon. He spent 5 years waging the war in Vietnam. Yes LBJ made a huge mistake and lied to us by escalating, but Nixon was very happy to keep the war going and going. He only sought to end it because of strong political pressure from moderates.

BTW: 58% of Americans now disapprove of Bush's war in Iraq.
He's not running for re-election but any Bushie pro-Iraq War candidate is very vulnerable next year.
