with google, I know that when we had a correction in the stock last friday (goog down 10 points at the lowest)- goog puts actually WENT DOWN. Thats the problem with options, you have the time premium + the sentiment factor which weighs in also... lots were probably trying to sell their puts that day. I did a study, a while ago with a few stocks and discovered that you could almost get the same leverage with margin as with options, if the stock moved up say 30%. So thats what I do almost exclusively if I want leverage- use margin. Rates are so low its ok. Good you made out ok with your goog calls though.
