John, I seriously doubt Israel or any other freedom loving nation will attack a nation not directly involved with a nuclear strike against Israel. However, if such a strike ever happens it will then be TOO LATE. Mike is mistaken by feeling Israel is incapable of striking Iran and eliminating the nuclear threat with non nuclear bombs. Israel perhaps has the finest airforce in the world, its at least on par with our own. It would be a difficult task BUT it can be done. That is why we have agreed to sell Israel BUNKER BUSTING bombs. I suppose that was PART OF THE DEAL to keep them on the sidelines for now.
So far as a Nuclear conglagtation in the middle east, that would be at the very minimum a DISASTER for the WORLD. Most of the oil needed to run a modern economy is located there. Even if we had Alaska open it would be 10 years before we could benefit. Much of the industialized world is even worse off then ourselves. A depression the likes of which has never been seen would fall upon the world. jdn
