Hank,

Hope you don't mind my questions but just trying to get a broader perspective of the drug industry and its problems. Being part of the industry you can give a view point from the inside.

>>I mean it should be done by public corporations rather than govenment<< If public companies did the testing wouldn't they be under pressure by their customers (drug companies) to produce positive reults? A company that was conscientiosly doing good testing could soon run out of customers if there were too many rejections. Aren't there limitations as to how much testing could be speeded up? It would seem to me as a layman that some drugs would probably require the same amount of time to prove efficacy regardless of who would do the testing.

It takes three to five years to presently get a drug approved in addition to a great deal of expense do you have any thoughts on how much private testing might might reduce both of these?

It seems to me that there might be many small Biotech companies that would take their testing through stageIII except for the exhorbitdant expense, what do you think?

Without question there would have to be new legislative safe guards for the consumer but how succesful do you think that would be with the drug lobbies supporting our Congress?

If there were no FDA who would serve as a watch dog and have authority in such situations as Hudson Foods? No private company could recall the product such as the FDA just did.

Thanks for you comments and observations.

Harold
