I have never ever said that Muslims are a sub-species of human or that they are inherently violent. If you reread my posts you will see that I have consistently said that Middle Easterners have been raised in a culture of violence and therefore are violent.
The same thing has been said about American gang members.......that they have grown up on a culture of violence. However, like with violent people in the ME, they are the minority, not the majority, in the Latiño, Asian and black communities. That's what you seem to ignore......that the suicide bombers are a distinct minority, not the majority, in the ME.
And when you confront people raised on violence with violence, they simply become more violent because that's all they know.
Very similar to kids raised in gang territory in LA grow up to be violent more often than not. Did you know that the Arab News Network broadcasts pictures and videos of Israelis brutalizing Palestinians all day every day and all night every night?
Yes, of course.........they see the West as the enemy. That's what really scares me......we are giving them considerable fuel with which to work their claims.
And before you get all misty eyed and proclaim that Americans are saints among men, I suggest you read the history of US involvement in the ME for the past 50 years. We started out looking like the bad guy and that image is worsening with each passing day.
Did you know that many times there is no news commentary or even text interspersed? It's just straight propaganda mainlined into the Arab consciousness.
You say that its propaganda.......and it is by definition. However, you seem to ignore that the facts they present are very real if not one sided. The US is seen as having brought a lot of violence to Iraq from shock and awe to the present suicide bombers. That's why the propaganda is effective. You can not imagine the numbers of innocent/civilian Iraqis, maimed and killed by shock and awe, that are shown on web sites. I don't care what American generals say........they missed their targets a lot more than they are willing to admit. That's what the Arab networks are showing the Muslim people. And if you saw those pics and you were Arab, you too would be angry with the US.
And that's why I am very worried. The internet and tv has made it very possible to get info out like never before. Very one sided info is getting out and the US ends up looking very bad. Even if the Iraqi war ends tomorrow, it will take decades for the US to overcome its negative image in the US.
Americans made a very big mistake electing the likes of Bush and we will pay dearly for that mistake.
This is just one medium used to inflame the Arabs against the Israelis and Americans.
And its very effective.
The Middle Easterners are not any less human than you are I, but they are a living testament to Pavlov's work with dogs. You provide the right environmental stimulus for long enough and you will get the expected results.
The right stimulus is that they are getting attacked, maimed and killed. That would be the right stimulus for anyone whether they were from the ME, Asia or the West. |
