Nope. I think Americans decided it was their manifest destiny to conquer the U.S. from East to West and then they did it. The American Indians were the big losers then, although several tribes seem to have recently made it rich on casinos.

But we aren't talking about the U.S.'s ancient history. We are talking about Palestinians and Israelis today. In particular, we are talking about the Palestinians blaming the U.S. and Israel for all their problems without for a second acknowledging that they also share the blame.

Heck, prior to the British pulling out Palestine/Israel, the U.N. passed a resolution dividing the area into two states, one for the Jews and one for the Palestinians. The Jews declared their sovereignty and prepared to defend it. The Palestinians decided to forego any declarations of sovereignty, threw their lot in with the surrounding Arab states who wanted to wage a ware of annihilation against the Jews, and then subsequently lost the first opportunity to gain a state for themselves. If they had declared their own sovereignty on the same day as the Jews and set about finding one voice for themselves within a governmental structure, then they would have a state as old as Israel's. But they didn't back then and they have continued to make the same mistake at every new opportunity for statehood, the most recent at Camp David and then with Abbas and Bush's vision for two states living side by side.
