The U.N. resolution that allowed Israel to declare sovereignty in 1948 also allowed for a Palestinian state. However, the Palestinians did not create their own state. Instead, they decided to work with the Arabs to fight the Jews.

Fine, but the UN was a totally new body at the time, and every one of the Arab countries voted against the resolution, so what good was it?

What does it matter in Australia votes to create a new state next to Bolivia and Paraguay if Bolivia and Paraguay vote against it?
