Indeed, and the real reason for such a worrisome state of affairs is that Zionism in America --that is, the drive to further Israel's geopolitical interests-- extends well beyond the strictly Jewish constituency. As I once put it, a key difference between Europe and the US is that, whereas in the former, Israel is basically a "Jewish trip", in the latter, Israel is part and parcel of the Judeo-Protestant mythology... It's precisely because over 30-50 million Evangelical freaks are fanatically Zionist and anti-Palestinian/Arab/Muslim that the Zionist faction within the larger and mostly liberal Jewish-American minority can exert such a powerful influence:

Hence it's very hypocritical and shameful for Americans to pin all the blame on American Jews only. For some, it's likely a cunning trick to shield their own anti-Arab racism behind the Jewish Piggy-in-the-middle --they wittingly pit the Israeli state against its Muslim neighbors but when the world cries foul they deviously shift the blame to the "wily Jews"....

I remember an article by NRO columnist Victor Davis Hanson, a true-blue conservative-cum-Zionist. Hanson was lashing out at Europe's pro-Arab bias and, at some point in his indictment, referred to the Jews as "one of the finest races... that gifted mankind with so many luminaries, artists, etc" (Not verbatim but close). So, my point is that there really is no racial animosity between Protestants and Jews, there is, however, a deep, irredeemable religious rift between them. Somehow, Judeo-Protestants' argument against Judaism is not so much about anti-Judaism per se as about what they view as Jewish anti-Christianism. From the Jesus freaks' standpoint, it's indeed the Jews who are guilty of dismissing Jesus Christ as a quack messiah. Yet their anti-Judaism doesn't preclude a sincere, unwavering Zionism --if only because Judeo-Protestant eschatology calls for herding all the Jews in the Holy Land....
