Why is it that every time Howard Dean opens his mouth, somewhere in the background I hear Karl Rove kicking his heels and giggling like a schoolgirl?

That's because you, like much of what you are reading, are looking in the wrong direction for the wrong things in the wrong places. Most of what you read are quotes taken out of context, whether Dean or Biden or Edwards, by right wing pundits, looking for any reason to make Dean look bad.

Just relax. We'll know more about Dean's tenure in a year or so when we have a chance to evaluate his ability to get his grassroots fund raising efforts off the ground. If that works, it will go some distance toward taking the funding of the Dem party out of the hands of fat cats; if not, we'll have the same ol' Dem party. Not nearly as bad as the Reps (read Elizabeth Drew in the latest issue of The New York Review of Books) but nothing to be proud of.

As for Rove, will he retire his political stuff at the end of the Bush incumbency? Or will he pick one of the Reps to back? If the latter, which one?
