>> Congress is not going to impeach Bush since it is completely controlled by the Republican majority in both the House and the Senate. They are not going to sit back and make themselves look like idiots just because the Sunni terrorists are...

You are right about the CONgress, but it has nothing to do with the Sunnis. It has everything to do with due process of law and not lying to the public. The great injustice that I point to is not the one done in Iraq but the one done here and to the Americans.

>> I believe Christians have every right to know about the attitudes of the Shiites and Kurds that we are trying to implicitly protect in Iraq...

I agree with you that it is good to be informed. But in this case it is not a "right". There is no freedom of information act signed with Iraqis on how they feel about each other.

On the other hand, a democracy is dead if its people cease to scrutinize their elected officials. My point was that being aware of what the government is doing is far more important than figuring out what people in distant lands are doing to each other.

>> I really doubt that Rummy is instigating the acts of terrorism across Iraq. I know that Muslims will say anything to make the US feel responsible...

Actually that bit of news did not come from a Muslim source. It came from here atimes.com and its author is a widely respected Christian.

>> Of course, they need an enemy to blame

Ehem...and the government doesn't? How else would they justify looting the public funds in the name of defense? Back in '91 (I think) Bush first relied on a report on that said Cold War military spending should continue on the grounds that Saddam is the most likely successor to the USSR. Think about that!! Saddam who was driven out of Iran in less than 2 years would justify spending as much on defense as a massive superpower that stretched from Japan to Finland!

PS Now I really have to get off SI...so perhaps we'll continue this in a month or so.
