Alvarion has broken the downtrend over the past few weeks and has moved up and tested resistance near 10.20 twice. The stock now looks like it might test that level again but will probably take some time to get through. The slow trading days of summer may be a tough period to gain momentum.

Overall, the business climate looks good: Alvarion threw out the numbers for Telmex business from their sales and earnings guidance because that was causing concerns among some analysts. And ALVR management said they are confident in seeing at least 25% yoy growth for the entire year. That back-end loads the growth to the second half which is now upon us. My analysis of the sector and Alvarion shows most of the growth occurring in the late 3rd and 4th quarter and into next year. And my suggestion is that this is an excellent period to accumulate the stock.

During the second half and into next year the 'fixed' 802.16-2004 version of certified WiMAX will start to become available. The sales will be helped by the approach of portable and soon after mobile products. As that gets closer interest among investors will likely pick up.
