Right now, none of the victims of the 10% alcohol/drug addicted people are helped by the government. The government knows these substances can, and do, cause at least an estimated 10% of the the addicted 10% people to cause crimes against society, including murder.

If any of your children, or family is injured or murdered by such a person, what do you think should be done with the person who committed the murder?

Do you think that MADD have any reason or right to protest drunk drivers?

Does the Government currently have programs for people who are addicted to gambling? Drugs? Sex? Are there any Government programs for any of the employees of the Government for any of these addictions? If so, who pays for the programs?

Actually, I believe people should be responsible for themselves. If they know they are addicted to something, I believe it is up to the individual to deal with their addiction. BUT we all know that most of these folks won't rehab themselves. And they certainly won't pay restitution to the families of those who are murdered because of them and their addiction.

Should we as a society put the addicted people in prison if they have committed a serious crime? What about the victims of the crime? Who will help them?

I sure don't have the answers, but I don't see that anyone else has proposed any workable answer either. People will find drugs and alcohol.

The question is what to do with the terrible results that happen to society when the addicted 10% or so of the users of whatever substance, consume the substance, and inflict society with the violence that can, and does, occur.

IF the Government decides to legalize marijuana, then it could be taxed HEAVILY (unless for medical use), and the taxes from the 90% of users who aren't addicted to it, could be used to care for the 10% who become addicted, and use it as a gateway to other much more serious drugs
