Hi Gustave -

Good analysis -

"As I noted, the ultimate target is the resilience of the US fabric itself. "

I worked for North VietNam.

I think there is something else going for China's energy needs - the US is not unaware of this. Let's watch what happens with Unocal and it's Asian assets. China is WAY too important to the US to be left out.

With both enegry deals, I don't think much money has changed hands yet....

No idea if there are plans for a regime change in Iran. Wouldn't surprise me if the Bushies try to bring the Shah back.
Might try something more stupid.

Very interesting points about 3/11.

I don't see the point about Taiwan - and why should the US care - as opposed to prentend to care ?

North Korea needs to be stopped before they cause Japan to go nuclear, which is a problem for both the US and China. Also maybe Russia, and South Korea.

Or am I missing something ?

The UK may get some activity in Iraq, and they are still part of the EU - for now.
Maybe the French should have cut the Carlyle group in on the oil for food program....;-)

Afghanistan - Taliban was close to or was bought by Osamma and friends - so back to warlords is an improvement from a US viewpoint....
