The Status of Iraq and Why Do Reporters Have Pencils or Pens?

I have subscribed to several sources where I can receive information on what is happening in Iraq and sources which tell the truth about what is going on because of biased news reporting. We do not read this information or hear about it through the media and it makes me wonder why they are not only so biased, but what they are so anti-American? I thank God I do not subscribe to any newspaper or other media source, EXCEPT for information and reports from American Congress for Truth (ACT) and Accuracy In Media (AIM). These are two outstanding organizations and I urge you to click on the related links, visit their sites, and sign up to receive the TRUTH about a lot of things the media is trying to hide and keep from us.

The following information can be verified on the Department of Defense web site:

Did you know that 47 countries have re-established their embassies in Iraq?

Did you know that the Iraqi government employs 1.2 million Iraqi people?

Did you know that 3,100 schools have been renovated, 364 schools are under rehabilitation, 263 schools are not under construction and 38 new schools have been built in Iraq?

Did you know that Iraq's higher educational structure consists of 20 Universities, 46 Institutes or colleges and 4 research centers?

Did you know that 25 Iraqi students departed for the United States in January 2004 for the re-established full bright program?

Did you know there are more than 1,100 building projects going on in Iraq? They include 364 schools, 67 public clinics, 15 hospitals, 83 railroad stations, 22 oil facilities, 93 water facilities, and 69 electrical facilities.

Did you know that 96% of Iraqi children under the age of 5 have received the first 2 series of polio vaccinations?

Did you know that 4.3 million Iraqi children were enrolled in primary school by mid October?

Did you know that there are 1,192,000 cell phone subscribers in Iraq and phone use has gone up 158%?

Did you know that Iraq has an independent media that consist of 75 radio stations, 180 newspapers and 10 television stations?

(I'll bet their media sources do not trash their military or our military like they do here in the United States)

Did you know that the Baghdad Stock Exchange opened in June of 2004?

Did you know that two candidates in the Iraqi presidential election had a televised debate in their country recently?

Did you know that the Iraqi Navy is operational? They have five 100-foot patrol craft, 34 smaller vessels and a naval infrantry regiment.

Did you know that Iraq's Air Force consists of three operation squadrons, 9 reconnaissance and 3 US C-130 transport aircraft which operate day and night, and will soon add 16 UH-1 helicopters and 4 bell jet rangers?

Did you know that Iraq has a counter-terrorist unit and a Commando Battalion?

Did you know that the Iraqi Police Service hasw over 55,000 fully trained and equipped police officers?

Did you know that there are 5 Police Academies in Iraq that produce over 3,500 new officers each 8 weeks?

Of course you DIDN'T KNOW.... because our media won't tell you. And they won't tell you because they have an agenda... an Anti-American Agenda!

Instead of shouting these accomplishments from every rooftop, they would rather show photo's of what a few perverted malcontent soldiers have done in prisons, in many cases never disclosing the circumstances surrounding the events.

Instead of showing our love for our country, we get photos of flag burning incidents at Abu Ghraib and people throwing snowballs at presidential motorcades.

The lack of accentuating the positive in Iraq serves only one purpose: to undermine the world's perception of the United States and our soldiers.

I have no idea why our media have an undeniable anti-American agenda but I do know this: I thank God no reporter serving in this nation lives next to me. If he or she did, I would do one of two things. Raise the flag for our nation and our AMERICANS living here and put a note in my window telling them that this is how we love our country and the flag here is NOT FOR YOU, but for all the BRAVE and TRUE Americans serving our country and living in America. The other thing I would do would be to pray for him or her because they evidently have either forgotten what it is to be an American and how to act like an American, instead of trying to destroy everything we hold sacred.

As a veteran of two conflicts and an American citizen, I am ashamed of our media, on virtually every level, EXCEPT for the American Congress for Truth (ACT) and Accuracy In Media (AIM) organizations. I salute both those organizations because they are standing up to be counted for the country they love and for what they believe in. They are telling it like it is! The creator and founder of ACT has paid her dues and she found a dream by coming to America. And you know what? She may not have been born in America, but she is more American than any news reporter I know and I am proud to make her acquaintance.

I wish the news media would start to grow up and start acting responsibly. I did not serve this nation and the people herein to honor crying babies behind pens and pencils who do not have the guts to stand up to be counted. Instead, they scramble for their sandboxes and their amendment flags to cry and moan and groan that their rights are being denied when we voice our objections to their outright bias.

Maybe.....just maybe....when a reporter has his or her own daughter sent to Iraq and then later has to try to identify parts of that person after a bomb separates that person from his or her family, that reporter may begin to realize, or comprehend, or understand, or think about what it means to be an American and have a son or daughter sacrifice for their country -- only to have thoughtless and inhumane reports trash the military and our governement, and all for the sake of putting dollars in their pockets and get their name and story on a front page at whatever the cost!

I see good things happening in Iraq and despite the media and their obvious attempt to degrade and demoralize our troops, we will overcome and we will win. But know one thing media: you will find out that what you are doing IS NOT the way to win friends and influence people. What you are doing is the way to prove just how ignorant you really are and just how high your IQ really is!
