Karen, I was about to make a comment, but then saw the response you got from Ish. The thoughts were just about exactly the same. A proxy is a substitute, and the American flag is not a substitute for anything. By itself, it is the symbol of the courage, and willingness to sacrifice one's life for his nation, and the freedom bought in blood under that flag being carried into battle. Long may it wave!! Some of us get the goose bumps when it passes by, and get teary eyed when taps is played over the body of a fallen hero. I guess that a lot of the Americans of today, just ain't got that thing.
