I think there's a huge difference between the courtship process as Owens attracts new talent and the day in, day out grind. For the latter, deeply ingrained culture cannot be suppressed.

If NT hadn't gone from 3 to 10 in a blink, I'd say that it's just dead money. But lightning could strike twice, maybe...
