I believe if you look carefully and add up all the columns from the various categories you will find that 77.9% of people with college degrees have jobs, adding up to 40 million workers with college degrees, not close to 80% of the total working population. Some further research shows that there are 106 million housing units in the US as of 2003, about 2/3 single family homes and the rest multifamily. The owner-occupation rate is also about 2/3. Why do we need to spend public money to subsidize SFR ownership when it leads to suburban sprawl? I would suspect the US has one of the highest percentages of SFRs in the developed world but I couldn't find the statistics on that.
