FYI: Here in Iowa we can buy 85%-Ethanol gasohol at numerous stations, with more to come. At the end of WW-II, as I understand it, the Germans were running most all their vehicles on pure ethanol since their refineries at Ploesti had been blown to rubble.

The future for gasohol across the USA is extremely bright - IMHO, and if properly promoted will cut us loose from the clowns at OPEC and other foreign sources. It also lends greatly to supportig the price for corn, which is good for our farmers.

The major byproduct from producing ethanol is DDG (distillers dry grain) used to make animal feed. And, if DDG ever becomes too abundant - it can be fed into anaerobic digesters onsite to create Methane-rich Biogas to help fuel the ethanol plant's boilers at prices well below pipeline natural gas.

Even after processing thru a digester, which reduces the DDG's mass by about 50%, the digestate material still has animal feed value - or it may serve as a good fertilizer / soil amendment locally. Nothing goes to waste. The digester can also process bad batch of grain (..they get viruses sometimes..), or the occasional piping maintenance "blowdowns".

John :-)
