Welcome to the board SrK.

b) unless stock options receive special tax treatment, that was careless of them.

The last Q would answer your questions ...

Their licensees have the right to use all their patents, but 3 are immediately relevant. Licensees pay the same rate whether they use one or many after thumbnail expiration, but up to now have really only been paying for the thumbnail...which just involves US sales because it has expired internationally. That one ...under litigation with Kodak right now... expires in April of 2006. The other two in 2012 and 2014. I'll dig up the patent numbers for you when I have more time. And tackle the payment questions too. I'm all typoed out for the moment.....

somebody else want to take these good questions?

Suffice to say that in the very long run, if all 3 of those patents are found invalid by an appeals court, all payments would cease. If only one of the basket is upheld, and is used, payment would continue at the same rate as if all were valid. It really rarely comes down to that sort of thing though..they have been licensing patents since 1968.

Again, despite carelessness that you discovered, I would commend the last Q to you. It is pretty straightforward.
