I enlisted earlier than 23 but didn't go to boot camp until 18 months later. the drill sergeants were disgusted with us. he said the group going through had an average age of 22 and they couldn't get anything done. these guys don't jump when you say jump. Another one said best troops are right out of high school. they haven't formed habits, still young enough to take directions without question.
