For starters, the maximum benefit from Social Security is based on a maximum income of $90K. What would be equitable about someone paying 22 times as much tax to get the same benefits as someone who pays 22 times less?

There is a mindset in this country, which is endlessly taken advantage of by politicians, that you can somehow pay less taxes by making someone else pay more. There's no such thing as a free lunch, and only fools believe otherwise.

Sure you can raise business taxes, and that sounds just fine to anyone who doesn't run a business. The only problem is everything you purchase from that business going forward is going to cost you exactly as much more as that business is paying extra to pick up the tax tab.

People who live in apartments think it's just jolly to raise property taxes on those who own homes. Then they sit around scratching their brain damaged heads trying to figure out why their rent went up.

It's just nifty that your boss has to pay half your Social Security taxes. That is until you figure out your paycheck is smaller by an equal amount.

The bottom line is when you take a bigger bite out of one person, that person will take a bunch of little bites out of you to make up for it.

Ignoring for a moment the fact that water runs downhill, my question to you would be: What possible claim can you honestly make to justify the idea that, through their own excellence and hard work, a person who makes more money than you do should support you simply because they have more money?
