I'm associated with an engineering group that has the most efficient anaerobic digester design on the planet. It's a bloody grind getting efforts like that started if you're not related to Uncle Bill, but we will succeed.
The Methane we can produce can go directly into interstate pipelines, fuel boilers, fuel powerhouses (..on a 1:1 par with Powder River Basin coal under certain circumstances..), or be used to make Methanol for conversion into Biodiesel.
At an ethanol plant we can take local manure sources, crop stubble, bad GMO crops, switchgrass, comminuted dead animals, and/or DDG and Blowdowns, and provide fuel gas for the plant profitably at $4/MM BTUs of gas energy content. Usually we'll get $6/MM BTUs or better. We can also process muncipal grounds and power line cuttings (..Asplundh left-overs..) and local vegetable processing wastes that would normally be 'stink-converted' into compost, and make gas from that for local businesses and powerhouses.
It's happening as we speak, becuase there's simply no way around it if the public continues to want to eat. The farms will be saved, and the farmers will prosper as never before.
I love "..Building America..", and kicking raghead arse in the process.
If and when we go public, I'll let you know.
