Re: And if the shia want a united iraq more than a shiaa semi-islamic state they will have to hold their nose and deal...

I fear the most us telling them what to do. If we do, and it does not work out, they are not as committed to a course of action imposed on them from outsiders....especially liberal Dem outsiders who have been against the war from the getgo and agonize daily over how to hammer and paint the worst possible picture so that they may have another RVN-type "victory".

Take another example, your kids. If you raise your kids by only speaking to them to correct rude or unruly behavior what do you get?...out of control and unruly kids! Make a habit of praising them more than half the time and you will motivate them to please you.

So far, the libs and the MSM have had very few encouraging words for the Iraqi. My wife brought me the "Intelligence Report" from Sunday's Parade Magazine. Uncharistically, they printed an sad and tearful but encouraging column on Mithal al-Alusi, who had lost both his sons, but continued to be a fine example of courage. Maybe it was only encouraging to those who have courage...don't find many of those around in the MSM....end of rant...jj
