Fuzzy Math
Polipundit

Vice President Dick Cheney seems to have confirmed private sector expectations that a July report will show the projected federal deficit this fiscal year has been cut from 427 billion to around 350 billion.

Let’s do some fuzzy math. Even John Kerry would struggle with this, so don’t feel bad Democrats.

Don’t worry. I will help you.

427-350
———– = 18%
427

So, Republican candidates in next year’s Congressional and Senatorial races can boast that Republican policies have cut the projected deficit by 18%.

Senate Polls

Survey USA has released another batch of 50 state polls looking at the approval ratings of United States Senators.

For incumbent Republicans, the polling data is fairly good.

In Rhode Island, Lincoln Chafee has went from a 48%-40% approval rating to a 53%-39% approval rating.

In the other vulnerable Republican seat, Pennsylvania, the news is far less good. Rick Santorum has went from a 44%-38% approval rating to a 45%-44% approval rating.

The news is similarly mixed for the Democrats.

In Florida, Bill Nelson has went from 50%-26% to 47%-29%.
In Michigan, Debbie Stabenow has went from 47%-33% to 48%-36%.

Yet,

In Nebraska, Ben Nelson has went from 62%-26% to 64%-26%.
In North Dakota, Kent Conrad went from 63%-27% to 71%-22%.

(It must have been the Elmo ad, but Hoeven still would beat him.)
