None of them are biased, in fact MSM coverage of Gore in 2000 was more negative than Bush as was polled. But the rightwing don't want you to see that. They just keep repeating the "liberal elite" spin words over and over.
Our press is so-so important to our democracy. They do what journalists are supposed to do, ask questions about governments, politicians, big corporate interests, major crooks and so forth. Which is why the rightwing pro-corporate imperial presdient types fear the press, because they have many dirty secrets they need to hide.
If the press are so liberal, why did they let the righting investigate Clinton's sex life? Or give Bush so many passes?
The press's job is to defend THE PEOPLE from being taken to the cleaners by the big powers that be. They also tell inspiring stories and report every day news, polls, sports scores and facts, but ther most important job is to DEFEND THE PEOPLE AGAINST THOSE WHO WOULD LORD OVER US, TRICK US, GOUGE US AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF US.
No wonder Bushies don't like journalists and try to replace them with spinners like extremely biased. Hannity and Limbaugh. it's all about big corporate money and extremist rightwing ideology connected with racism, sexism and keeping the little people down.
However today's press has given Bush a free ride on election fraud, Bin Lauden, smearvets, Gannongate, Enron and Halliburton, deficits, you name it. And they gave him a pass on WMD's lies until very recently. |
