Sorry for the delay in responding. I am having a wonderful holiday and spending minimal time on the computer.

I cannot disagree with anything you said in that post. Even religious people understand (most of them) that dead human flesh is just chemical compounds. For living people to risk injury or death for a flag, a book, or a body...that is just immature, irrational, and bizarre.

Certainly, I appreciate the pragmatic value and utility of cultural rituals which have served the human animal in dealing with loss and grief. But retrieving a body does not reverse what has been lost...
